Alone in the middle of the snow, the rowan tree burst into little splashes of red, as if winter had left it with the task of preserving a little color. Its berries looked like drops of sorbet suspended from its slender branches, ready to melt at the slightest breath. A simple yet resilient tree, it gives and endures, offering unexpected softness in the white of winter.
