Around midnight, in Disko Bay, the grazing light revealed the volumes of a massive iceberg drifting slowly offshore. In the foreground, a few kayaks glided silently across a perfectly calm sea.
Their presence suddenly gave scale to this ice giant, shaped by snow that fell several hundred years ago before turning into ice, and then slowly reaching the sea.
A scene that reminds us how Greenland's landscapes transcend all intuition.
Disko Bay, west coast of Greenland, summer 2026.
