It was the last morning. After a week-long expedition, I turned around one last time, and this is what I saw.

These ridges were carved by a two-kilometer-thick glacier. The rocks that compose them are over two billion years old; they existed before the dinosaurs, before the forests, before almost any form of complex life.

And Scandinavia is still rising today, millimeter by millimeter, as if the earth remembers the weight of all that ice. I captured this in a few seconds, before the wind closed everything off again. What you are hanging in your home is that silence, and that endurance.
